NASTY NELSON
A serve that intentionally hits the non-receiving player before the ball bounces. The points will only be awarded for shots that hit the opponent’s body below the neck.

ERNE
A shot where the player moves outside the sidelines and volleys the ball close to the net, bypassing the non-volley zone (i.e., the kitchen).

AROUND THE POST
(ATP)
A shot that travels outside the net post rather than over the net and where the ball lands legally in the opponent’s court.

TWEENER
A shot between the legs where a player strikes the ball by swinging the paddle between his/her legs.

BODY BAG
A shot that hits the opponent's body without the ball bouncing on the ground and before the opponent can return it. The points will only be awarded for shots that hit the opponent’s body below the neck but which do not include the opponent’s hand or wrist that is holding on to the paddle.

A high, arching shot over the head of the opponent. The points will be awarded if the LOB SHOT wins the rally.

Who can participate in Pickle Rumble?

Pickle Rumble is an Open Gender doubles event — teams can consist of 2 males, 2 females, or 1 male and 1 female. Any skill level is welcome!

Players who are joining PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open 2026 can also join Pickle Rumble as it will be happening on the Preview Day of PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open 2026 where no other competitive matches will be happening.

What scoring system does Pickle Rumble use?

Pickle Rumble uses Rally Scoring — points are awarded on every rally regardless of who is serving. First team to 15 points wins, with sudden death at 14-14

Will matches be officiated?

Yes — all matches will have 1 referee per court.

What paddles are allowed?

Only USA Pickleball and/or UPA-A approved paddles are permitted. Please ensure your paddle is approved before the event.

What ball will be used?

Same Ball as PPA ASIA 500 Singapore Open.

How are ties broken in the group stage?

Ties are resolved in this order: Match Differential → Game Differential → Point Differential → Head-to-Head result.
